Some of my paper is preserved for its own beauty as standalone pieces. There is a rule in papermaking that you should never ask someone what the paper “will be used for.” People make paper for handmade books, for wrapping gifts, for sculpture, and… for collage! People also make it for its own beauty. Once the pulp has drained through the mould and deckle (a screen and frame) used to create a sheet, the creative process may be complete or it may have just begun. It may be ready for a frame or it may be sacrificed to a completely different visual experience. |
